There was ideal weather and a fast track for the Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay amateur athletic and cycling championships, held at McLean Park, Napier, on Saturday, and 12 records were broken: The appearance of the Trinidad athletes, who competed at the Empire Games in Sydney, aroused interest, although, as the manager said, they were not up to their usual form. THREE WORLD RECORDS

U.S. RUNNERS AT INDOOR MEETING NEW YORK, February 27. Three world records were established at an Amateur Athletic Union meeting. G. Cunningham covered 1500 metres (indoor) in 3min 48.4 sec. James Herbert, of New York University, covered 600 metres (indoor) in lmin 20.3 sec, and Allan Tolmich, of Wyne University, did the 65 metres high hurdles in B.ssec.
