DAMAGE TO MATUA LESS THAN FEARED
SHIP TO LEAVE DOCK TO-DAY

WELLINGTON, February 25. The Union Steam Ship Company's motor-ship Matua, which was supposed to have struck a submerged reef at Nukualofa on her last trip, was placed on the Wellington floating dock to-day. The damage revealed was less than was expected- two dented plates on each side of the ship. These do not require replacing. It was also found that 50 feet of the oilge keel will have to be replaced. , , The Matua will come off the dock to-morrow, and will leave for Auckland and the islands.
