FORMAL DISCUSSIONS RESUMED WIDE RANGE OF SUBJECTS CONSIDERED (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) (Received February 24, 7.5 p.m.) RUGBY, February 23. Mr de Valera had an hour’s conversation with Mr Chamberlain at the House of Commons. Afterwards, the first formal meeting of the resumed discussions between Ministers of the United Kingdom and Eire took place. Mr Chamberlain, Sir Samuel Hoare, Sir Thomas Inskip, and Mr Malcolm Mac Donald were present. The discussions ranged over a wide field embracing questions of partition, defence, finance, and trade. Later, a discussion affecting trade, with a view to the conclusion of a trade agreement, has resumed between Mr S. F. Lemass, Mr James and Mr J. W. Dulanty for Eire, and Mr W. S. Morrison and Mr Malcolm Mac Donald for the United Kingdom.
