CZECHOSLOVAKIA READY

POSSIBILITY OF AN UNDECLARED WAR “WILL NOT BE TAKEN BY SURPRISE” PERMANENT FORTIFICATION OF FRONTIERS (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (Received February 24, 9.38 p.m.) PRAGUE, February 24. A communique issued by the Chief of the General Staff, General Krejci, states: “The General Staff is aware of the possibility of war against the Czechoslovakian Republic without formal declaration. It is well prepared and will not be taken by surprise. “The standing army, the defence works, and the armament industry are highly perfected. Any enemy will do well to think twice about whether a surprise attack has any prospects of quick success. “A huge garrier of permanent fortification is being constructed along the length of the frontiers. Eight aircraft factories are working at full speed, and a detailed scheme of food supply has been worked out.”
