DAVIS CUP ENTRY NOW POSSIBLE COOMBE AND BROWN MAY JOIN MALFROY (pbbsb association telboeaji.) AUCKLAND, February 24. Although it was recently announced from Wellington that as A. C, Stedman was not available, New Zealand’s entry would be withdrawn from the Davis Cup, it is understood that the matter has not finally been disposed of. The management committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association will meet in Wellington early ' next week, when a final decision will be made. . It is learned that there is a proposal to send D. C. Coombe and A. D. Brown to join C. E. Malfroy to make up a New Zealand team. QUIST TO PLAY IN WELLINGTON WELLINGTON, February 24, The New Zealand and Wellington Lawn Tennis Associations have arranged for a series of exhibition tennis matches to be played by Adrian Quist, the Australian Davis Cup player, at Miramar, on March 5, the exhibition to consist of five sets of singles, and five sets of doubles, A. C. Stedman, New Zealand Davis Cup representative, will be Quist’s opponent in the singles, but the players in the doubles have not yet been selected.

RANKING MATCHES AT WILDING PARK THREE WINS FOR CHALLENGERS Six challenge matches were played at Wilding Park last night for places on the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s ranking list. The games resulted as follows (challengers’ names last): — C. F. Penfold beat B. E. Souter, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, for sixth place. J. W. Arnold lost to M. J. Souter, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, for twelfth place. M. J. Corich beat L. Morris, 6-4, 6-4, for sixteenth place. H. G. Searle lost to M. McGillivray, 6-4. 6-4, for eighteenth place. Miss D. Dickey beat Miss J. Senior, 7-5, 6-1, for fourth place. Miss H. Wright lost to Mias I. Wright, 6-4, 6-3, for twelfth place.
