MR W. GROUNDS WILL STAND AS INDEPENDENT (FBX33 A.3SOOATIOK IZUGUXJ WHANGAREI. February 23. Mr W. Grounds has announced that he will contest the Bay of Islands seat as an Independent at the General Election. He is a past chairman of the Dairy Board and the North Auckland Dairy Conference, and at present is chairman of the Hokianga Dairy Company. At the last election he polled heavily as an Independent against the Bt. Hon. J. G. Coates in the Kaipara electorate. NATIONAL CANDIDATE FOR OTAKI (THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON. February 23. The National Party candidate for the Otaki electorate was selected at a meeting of the party’s branch delegates in the Anglican Hall, Otaki. There were 88 delegates present, and Mr John Barclay was in the chair. The-three nominees were Messrs E. Winley, F. E. Trim, and George A. Monk. Mr Winley withdrew before the selection was made, and the result of the ballot was in fayour of Mr Monk, who will be the candidate for the district. HON. F. LANGSTONE TO STAND AGAIN (FBBSS ASSOCIATION TKLECKAJI.) TAUMARUNUI, February 23. The Hon. F. Langstone, Minister for Lands, has accepted an invitation to stand again for the Waimarino seat at the General Election in Labour interests.
