STATE PLACEMENT SERVICE
The total permanent placements made by the New Zealand State Placement Service from January 31 to Feb-, ruary 19 were 800. Casual employment was found -for 1193 persons, and temporary employment for 782, making the total number of positions filled by persons recommended by the bureau 1975. With private positions filled the total was 2775. The largest number of permanent placements was made in Auckland (98), and Wellington was next with 94, Christchurch had 56. Wanganui, with 209, had the highest number of casual positions for the period, and Dunedin was next with 173. There were 65 in Christchurch. Temporary positions were found for 149 in Auckland, and the next largest number was 131 in Christchurch-
