LODGE MEETINGS

RIDGELY LODGE, 1.0.0. F. At-the meeting of the Ridgely Lodge, 1.0.0. F.. the N.G. (Bro. T. Anderson) presided over a large attendance. An invitation to attend a lecture at Washington, Lodge on February 21 was received and accepted. It is the intention of Bro. A. Wilson. P.G. P.D.D.G.M., Grand Warden, to be present oh this occasion. Seven candidates were initiated. It was decided that the Lodge would enter for the initiation competition which is being held in March. The following were elected to the standing committee for the ensuing term: —P. G.’s, Bros. G. Scarlet L. P. White. W. Marriott, R. Chapman, and G. Rickard. Intimation was given of the challenge cricket match with the Washington members at Riccarton Domain, on March 13, and that a challenge had also been received from the Christchurch Postmen. On March 21 the Lodge would meet Washington Lodge in their lodge room, at bowls. The first nominations for office were received. The usual welcome was extended to visiting members, responses being made by Bro. Stokes, of Linden Lodge, Dunedin, Bro. Cook, N.G., of Washington Lodge, Bro. V. McConnell, of Blenheim Lodge, and Past Grand Master Bro. Valentine, of Loyal Leith Lodge, Dunedin. Bro. Valentine, in his remarks. referred to the wonderful spirit evident by the visitors’ reports of sick members visited during the last fortnight. He made feeling reference to the loss sustained by the Order in the deaths of Bro. Captain Edwin Musick, of the Samoan clipper, and two of his comrades. LOYAL SISTER PEARCE LODGE At the meeting of the Loyal Sister Pearce Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., the N.G. (Sister M. Barrie) presided over a large attendance of sisters. One candidate was initiated and_ seven were proposed for membership. The Noble Grand extended a cordial, welcome to officers and members of the Loyal Riccarton, Benevolent, and Kaiapoi Lodges and also to menders of other lodges present. The Vice-Grand reported on the lodge’s recent visit to the Loyal City of Christchurch Lodge. Great interest was taken in the report received from the judges of the efficiency competition. After the meeting the visiting lodges were entertained at cards.

THE LOYAL BENEVOLENT LODGE Bro. R. F. Andrews presided over the quarterly summoned meeting of Loyal Benevolent Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., on Monday night. , One new member was admitted. P.G.’s Bros. A. C. Foster, W. H. Phillips, and E. S. Collard were appointed conference delegates. Appreciation of his efforts in obtaining new members was conveyed to I.P.N.G. Bro. E. Dalziel. Pleasure was expressed at the attendance of Bro. J. Williamson P.D.G.M., who assisted in the work of the lodge; also in Bro. A. F. W. James. P.D.G.M., carrying out his usual duties after his illness.
