BOWLS A match'has been arranged between a rink representing the Lyttelton Bowling Club and the Canadian representative rink, which is now in Lyttelton aboard the Maunganui, after taking part in the Empire Games at Sydney. The match will be played to-day from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., and the following is the Lyttelton rink; T. C. .Voyce, A. T. E. Miller, S. Edgar, J. N. Neville (skip). Picnics Several school and trade picnics are to be held at Lyttelton bays this week. On Tuesday the Fendalton School picnic, which 500 attended, was held at Corsair Bay. Yesterday the Amberley School (150), and the combined Springfield. Annat, and Russell’s Flat Schools (150), held their picnics at Corsair Bay. Magistrate’s Court Mr F. F. Reid, S.M., presided at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Frank Cecil Fairclough, for driving a motor-car without exercising due care and attention, was convicted and fined 10s and ordered to pay costs. Henry Hewlett was charged, on the information of the traffic inspector for the Lyttelton Borough Council (Mr G. M. Daniel), with overtaking another vehicle on an intersection. He was convicted and fined 10s, and ordered to pay costs. In a judgment summons case, George Watts was ordered to pay Annette Clifford £l9 6s forthwith, in default 21 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as he pays £3 a month. Golf Club Meeitng The Lyttelton Golf Cub has had another successful year, according to the report presented at the annual meeting held last night. Mr H. Fletcher presided over a fair attendance. The report further stated that a big improvement had been made to the course since the new mower had been brought into use. A gratifying feature was the number of young players who had joined during the year. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr R. Orton Bradley; vicepresidents, Messrs J. E. Stokes and R.
