NEW MINING LAWS
REGULATIONS NOW BEING PREPARED [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.! WELLINGTON, January 24. Regulations are being prepared to give effect to the provisions contained in the new mining legislation put through Parliament last session, including the coal mines legislation and that dealing with mining laws generally, and petroleum research and exploitations This was indicated by the Minister for Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb) in an interview to-day. Mr Webb said that it was intended during this year to overhaul the regulations made under the Mining Act, and also, if possible, the Stone Quar-f ries Act. The aim of the Petroleum Act, of course, was to encourage a thorough search for flow oil -in New Zealand, and it was anticipated, the Minister said, that application for oil prospecting licences would be made shortly.
