IRON WORKS STRIKE AT NEWCASTLE
MEN'S NOTICE EXPIRES
(Received January 23. 6.30 p.m.) SYDNEY. January 23. Last-minute efforts to avert a stoppage of work at Ljsaght's Newcastle iron works failed, and the men's H days' notice, given m January 11, "will take effect on Monday.
At "least 700 piece-workers are directly affected, and 700 others have been notified by the management that there will be no work until further notice.
