THE OMENS OF CIVILISATION
• TO THE EDITOR OP THE PRESS. Sir,—Your correspondent, Mr W T Kingston, still wastes his time and talent, and your space in endeavourino o loist the British-Israel theory upon the readers of "The Press." This theory has sidetracked many t, ™ ch folk ' both ministerial and lay. It Mr Kingston will read Scripture apart from his pet theory, he will find the answer to the question, "What is going to be the end of it all?" The end of it all, as revealed in Revelation, commencing at chapter 4. is the overthrow of the present world kingdoms, who are led and controlled by Satan, the Prince of this world;, and the setting up of the Messianic kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, with Jerusalem as the centre. _ The argument about Christ identifying Himself with Israel is unsound, and misleading, and is a sample of British-Israel logic. Christ did not recognise Israel as two nations. God's dealings with His people were ever, and have been ever, as one people, the descendants of His friend Abraham. The division of the tribes into separate kingdoms was purely a man's affair, and lasted for a comparatively short period. As one God scattered thorn; as one He will yet gather them, when the fullness of the Gentile nations is come in.
If the Jordan incident proves anything, and there are two nations, then it was certainly Judah that He identified Himself with and not Israel. Isaiah 54 cannot possibly apply to the British, either past or present. Perhaps Mr Kingston will tell us why the British, if they are Israel, do not keep the Passover, and the Sabbath in the God-appointed way, as was enjoined upon His covenant people, and when the blindness which happened to Israel was lifted. The British have long professedly accepted Jesus as the Messiah.—Yours, etc., PEACEFUL. January 21, 1938.
