PUBLIC CONVENIENCES
•in THE EI>tTOR OF THE PRKSSi. Sir.—l am given to understand that the new public conveniences in course of construction are in Manchester street, off the main thoroughfare, and when finished the present ones on the corner of Cashel and High streets are to be dene away with. Surely our council has not stopped to think that three such places are too few for a city like Christchurch. It is appalling to sec what the results are with two such places. It is bad enough for the Christchurch people, but much worse for visitors. I live in the centre of the city and can ree. I do that our council will give this serious consideration before dismantling the present one.—Yours, etc.. FRED LAWS. January 19, 1933. I The Mayor. Mr J. W. Beanland, commenting on this letter, said the matter had been fully considered, and the conveniences at the corner of Cashel and High streets would be converted into gardens. The building of conveniences higher up in Manchester street was being contemplated.^
