TELEPHONE FOR CORSAIR BAY
TO THE KIMIOII VT TUB TRESS. Sir, —May I, through the columns of jour paper, say a little in support of D. Odium in reference to a telephone being installed at one of our most popular reaside resorts, Corsair Bay. Having read his letter to your paper and heard the opinion of other loik, who are, like myself, frequent visitors to this pretty little spot, I think it would be a wonderful asset to have a telephone installed on the beach. Every holiday there is always a chapter of accidents somewhere, and if our Lyttelton councillors would give this their careful consideration, I think something would be done before our summer is concluded.
Regarding the reply of the Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr F. E. Sutton) that the caretaker of Corsair Bay had approached the Post and Telegraph Department to install a telephone for his own use and which would also be available to the general public at a nominal fee, which he would collect to help pay cost, this was a wonderful suggestion and why Mr Sutton and his fellow councillors did not have the foresight to back his application up beats me. I sincerely trust it will not be long before we see something done in this matter.—Yours, etc.. G. A. WILSON. January 18, 1938.
