SYDNEY NEWSPAPER THREATENED
MR LANG MAY CALL UP DEBENTURE EXPECTED RESIGNATION FROM LABOUR MOVEMENT (Received January 22, 2 a.m.)
SYDNEY, January 21. A sensational development in official Labbur circles to-night was the announcement that Mr J. T. Lang, Leader of the State Opposition, had given notice to the board of directors of the "Labour Daily" newspaper of his intention to call up the principal second debenture of £13,764, together with interest, amounting to £3400. He announced that, in the event of default, he intended to appoint a receiver to manage the newspaper It is expected that Mr Lang will in due course quit the Labour movement, and that the "Labour Daily" will fall into the hands of an industrial section, composed largely of miners who for years have contributed largely to the support of the paper.
