LARGE SUNSPOT REPORTED
. + ALLEGED EFFECT ON EMPIRE BROADCASTS LONDON, January 19. The "Daily Telegraph" states that one of the largest sunspots observed since 1875, when records were begun at the Greenwich Observatory, is now clearly visible in London to the naked eye. On the upper righthand part of the orb is an elongated dark area estimated at 3,500,000,000 square miles. It is believed that recent difficulties in Empire broadcasts, especially to Canada, are attributable to it.
