Dr. J. K. Davidson was a passenger from Wellington by the Rangatira yesterday morning. Dr. M. G. Louisson returned to Christchurch from the north yesterday morning. Mr W. M. Shand, manager of the Christchurch branch of Wright, Stephenson, and Company, Ltd., was a passenger from the north yesterday morning. Mr S. G. Holland, M.P., was a passenger for the north by the t>teamer express last night. Messrs D. W. Westenra and Gordon Fulton were among the passengers from Wellington by the Rangatira yesterday morning. Mr N. D. Bowman, manager of the Guardian Assurance Company, was elected chairman of the Canterbury Fire and Accident Underwriters' Association at the association's annual meeting. Mr G. A. K. Williams, manager of the Yorkshire Insurance Company, was elected to the position of vice-chairman. Mr Gabriel M. A. Pouquet has been gazetted as Consul of France at Auckland for New Zealand. —Press Association. Mr Namio Nakajiiji, Vice-Consul for Japan, has arrived in Wellington to establish a Japanese Consulate-General. The newly-appointed Consul-General, Mr Kiichi Gunji, will arrive from Singapore to take up his duties in New Zealand in March. Mr Nakajuji is accompanied by his wife and by Mr T. Kako, of the Sydney Consulate.—Press Association.
