GIFT PARTIES
Miss Nancy Huston entertained a number of friends at her home recently in honour of Miss B. G, Hosking, whose marriage will take place this month. A pleasant time was spent in games and competitions, the winners being Miss K. Muff and Misses Phyllis Watkinson and Marjorie Clements. Those present were Mesdames P. Hosking, E. Taylor, T. H. Huston, N. Knight, K. Muff, C. Blunt, B. T. Cocks. W Carlisle, B. Bar wick Misses B. Hosking, J. Miss 8.. G. Hosking was guest of honour recently at a “kitchen” .gift parly given by her aunts at the home of Mrs E. Taylor, Opawa. During the afternoon competitions were won by Misses Pat Hannah, B. Mrs Eric Edmonds was hostess at a “variety” gift party in honour of her sister, Miss Margaret Mulhem, whose marriage will take place next week. Those present were Miss Margaret Mulhern, Mesdames L. , To celebrate the approaching marriage of Miss Rose Vickery, a “pantry” gift party was given by her sister, Mrs A. Falconer, at the home of Mrs C. Hooper, Radley road. A pleasant time was spent in games, competitions, and items, the latter being given by Messrs J. Simon, T. Hertnon, and A. Eyles. Amongst those present were Mrs S. Vickery, Mr and Mrs A. OBITUARY
MRS ELLEN GIBSON
Mrs Ellen Gibson, a resident of Reefton for 30 years, died recently after a long illness at her home in Main street, Reefton. Mrs Gibson was 84 yeans of age, and was a native of Scotland. She arrived at Port Chalmers 63 years ago on the Margaret Galbraith. She is survived by one daughter, Miss Gibson (Reefton). Her husband predeceased her seven years ago. The funeral, a private one. was held at Reefton yesterday morning, the services being conducted by the Rev. C. Dickens, of Wesley Methodist Church, Reefton.
