The Minister for Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, will arrive in Christchurch on Tuesday to open the New Zealand National Flower Show. At 10 a.m. he will meet deputations at the Government buildings, and will return to Wellington the same night.

Mr F. G. Page, who has been accountant with David Crozier, Ltd., for more than 20 years, has resigned through ill health. He received a presentation from the firm on his retirement in appreciation of his services. Mr C. Foster Browne, headmaster of the Cathedral Grammar School, has returned to Christchurch after his annual holidays. Mr J. K. Collins (Springfield road) will leave to-night for Wellington on the first stage of his journey to England.

Mr G. E. Stokes, health inspector for the Waimairi County Council, was appointed by the council last night to attend the conference of the Sanitary Inspectors’ Institute at Dunedin from March 7 to March 10.

Mr C. E. Critchley, recently appointed Australian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, arrived in Christchurch last evening on a tour of the South Island. Accompanying him is Mr James Payne, who has been for three years assistant Australian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, and who will shortly leave for Egypt to represent Australia there. A visit to Thames, Mercury Bay, Coromandel, Whenuakite, Tairua, Waihi, Paeroa, and Te Aroha is to be paid by the Minister for Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple), who will leave Wellington by the limited express this evening for Frankton. When at Paeroa on Thursday, January 27, Mr Semple will perform the ceremony of turning the first sod on the Paeroa to Pokeno railway. The Minister will arrive at Thames on Friday, and will leave on Saturday for Mercury Bay. He will arrive at Coromandel on Monday, Waihi on Wednesday, Paeroa on Thursday, and at Te Aroha vn Thursday night. He expects to return to Wellington at the end of next week.
