NORTH CANTERBURY SUB-ASSOCIATION

COMPETITIONS TO RESUME

After a break of several weeks the competitions of the North Canterbury Lawn Tennis Sub-Association will be resumed on Saturday, when the following matches’will be played:— Senior grade—Rangiora A v. Oxford, at Rangiora; Kaiapoi v. Rangiora B, at Kaiapoi; United a bye. Intermediate grade—Sefton A v. United, at Sefton; Rangiora v. West Eyreton, at Rangiora; Woodend v. Sefton B, at Woodend; Ohoka v. Southbrook, at Ohoka; Kaiapoi v. Amberley, at Kaiapoi. Cust has already beaten Balcairn. Junior grade—Femside v. Amberley Domain A, at Fernside; Southbrook y. Ashley, at Southbrook; Celtic v. United. at Celtic: West Eyreton v. Woodend, at West Eyreton; Carleton a bye. Amberley Domain B has already beaten Loburn. WHITE BUTTERFLY PARASITES FURTHER SUPPLY TO KOWAI COUNTY COUNCIL There were present at the last meeting of the Kowai County Council: Messrs H. May (chairman), M. B. Forrester, D. McLean, R. Peach, J. B. Bowker, and J. Ashworth. A vote of sympathy was passed with Cr. D. McLean in the death of his sister, Mrs G. Stace. The balance-sheet for the year ended March 31, 1937, was returned from the Auditor-General duly certified. Miss Margaret Smaile (Christchurch) is the guest of Miss Mona McDonald (Gore Bay). , _ Mrs W. McPherson and Mrs T. Vintner (Dunedin) are the guests of Mrs R. McKnight. Mrs W. B. Lundy (Tinwald), who has been spending a holiday with Mrs A. Lundy, has returned to her home. Misses Jessie Forbes and Noreen Cottrell are spending a holiday at Gore Bay. SCHEDULE FOR KAIKOURA SHOW APPROVAL AT MONTHLY MEETING Mr A. Howard presided at the monthly meeting of the Kaikoura Agricultural and Pastoral Association, which was held in the council chambers. The schedule for the forthcoming show was considered, and adopted. The application of Messrs Brown Bros, for space for a commercial exhibit was granted. Mr T. S. Ferguson forwarded a contribution of £2 2s, for which he was accorded a vote of thanks. The secretary was requested to write to tpe Agricultural Department asking that it make an exhibit of seed, plants, wool, animal parasites, and specimens of diseases of stock. Stewards were appointed for the various classes.. Mepibers in the various districts were appointed as canvassers for entries and contributions.
