WATER SUPPLY AT KAIRAKI BEACH
PROPOSAL TO EXTEND
SYSTEM
Mr G. Banks, representing residents of the Kairaki Beach reserve, waited on. the Kaiapoi Borough Council at its meeting on Tuesday evening to submit a proposal to extend the present water supply to residents. He gave particulars as to the most suitable method of connecting nine new consumers at an estimated cost of £24. The matter was referred to the reserves committee to report on the necessity and cost of the work, and the prospect of collecting an annual charge of 5s from bach owners towards maintenance. The question of the council taking over the road leading into the freezing works was discussed, and it was decided that the works committee make an inspection before the North Canterbury Sheepfarmers’ Freezing Company’s application was considered.

BANGIORA CLUB TO CELEBRATE
Celebrations to mark the diamond jubilee of the. North Canterbury Rugby Football Club will be held in Rangiora on Saturday, May 7. Plans were made at a meeting of the committee last evening with the president (Mr W. N. Forgeson) presiding. It was decided to arrange a parade of. present and former players from the Post Office to Dudley Park, before an old timers’ match, which will be a curtain-raiser to a senior club fixture. The celebrations will end with a banquet in the evening.
