M- Moir, C.8.E., accompanied by his wife, is a roundvoyage passenger on the Akaroa, due at Wellington on January 31, BearAdmiral Moir was retired m 1928, having joined the navy in WBB. He was promoted to lieutenant m 1894, a commander in 1907. and captain in 1915 Engineer-Lieutenant-Coramander H. R. Bullimore. R.N. (Auckland), arrived recently by the Orion accompanied by his wife and daughter. They are to take up residence at Portsmouth shortly, after a visit to Devon. Miss Bullimore is planning a trip to Newcastle, Ireland; to stay with a former Auckland friend. Miss Ellie Thronsen, now the wife of Captain D. Houchm. Mrs G. W. M. Hare, formerly Mrs W. A. Alexander (Auckland) is now living in London. Mrs Hare, who came to England at the beginning of the year, married the Rev. G. W. M. Hare, an Anglican clergyman, in October Before taking Holy Orders, Mr Hare spent a period in New Zealand, teaching at King’s College. Auckland, and in Wellington and Christchurch. Recent arrivals include Mr and Mrs R. J. Miller and family (Wellington). They have taken a flat in Townshend Court, off Regent’s Park. Mr and Mrs R. Hampton (Wellington) have been visiting Yorkshire, where Mr Hampton represented the New Zealand Methodist Church at the Methodist Conference at Bradford. Later they toured the English Lake District, and are at present visiting relatives in Northern Ireland. Flight Lieutenant G. R. Canavan (Feilding) is stationed in Singapore for three years. With his wife, he arrived there early in October. He plans to fly to New Zealand when his next leave is due. „ Mrs H. Jackson (Wellington), accompanied by her daughters, the Misses Hermine and Barbara Jackson, and her niece. Miss Carmen Garside (also of Wellington), made a very enjoyable tour of Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, and France shortly before Christmas. They found people especially kind and hospitable in Germany and Austria, and were pleasantly surprised to see so much prosperity. They were shown over some model workers’ flats, roomy, convenient, and well-equipped, with playgrounds for children connected with the buildings, all for a rental of the equivalent cf 25s a month. Since returning to England Mrs Jackson and her daughters and niece have been staying with Mrs Jackson’s brother-in-law, General Jackson, in Derbyshire, where they spent Christmas. Miss A. D. Petersen <N e w Plymouth) returned to London for Christmas after two months’ holiday in the Isle of Man. Previous to that she made a long lour of the Scottish Highlands and also visited Denmark, where she spent two months staying with relatives and sight-seeing by car. She found time, too, for a visit to Sweden and was greatly impressed by the cleanliness of all the towns she saw. Mrs Florence Kissin (Auckland) returned to England shortly Christmas from a motor tour through Toulon, Cannes, Nice, Monte Carlo, as far as the Italian frontier. Mrs Kissin is specially interested in fashions, and Saw several mannequin shows while abroad. After spending the New Year holiday in London, she plans to tour the provinces to study the styles, and will probably leave in February for America, where she will continue her search for models and ideas oh her way home to New Zealand. Mrs M. E. Parkes (Auckland) is returning to New Zealand by the Akaroa, which left London on December 28. She has been in England for the greater part of the present jwas,
