KEPT A GAMING HOUSE Theodore Francis Kearns, whose premises at 277 (Colombo street, Sydenham, were visited by two detectives at 11.30 o’clock yesterday morning, pleaded guilty to a charge of keeping a common gaming bouse.

Kearns was convicted and fined £2O and ordered to pay costs in default three months’ imprisonment. Detective J. McClung, who Visited Kearns’s premises with Detective C. P. Burns, said that a quantity of betting material had been found in Kearns’s pocket. There were a book, some betting slips, and other paraphernalia. There was no suggestion, however, that accused was carrying on in a big way. He was a first offender, Ernest Drewery was fined £2O and ordered to pay costs for keeping a common gaming house. qiVIL CASES (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) ORDER FOR POSSESSION An order for possession was made in favour of Lilian Ada Roche against Mary Griffith. Griffith was the occupier of a house (which had been sold) owned by Roche, and had refused to move into another house, regarding it as unsuitable. JUDGMENT SUMMONS C. J. Allen was ordered to pay W. P. Ingham, Ltd.', the sum of £8 Is 6d forthwith in default eight days’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended as long as defendant pays 10s a week.
