MUNICIPAL POLLS IN VICTORIA
+ LABOUR FAILS TO CAPTURE MANY COUNCILS (Received December 6, 7.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, December 6. The triennial elections of municipal and shire councils were held throughout the State on Saturday. Most of the candidates returned were non-political. The State Australian Labour Party executive made a bid to capture many of the councils, but the results disclose that it again failed, holding a majority in only seven metropolitan industrial centres. A feature of the metropolitan contest: was the defeat at Glebe of 12 Australian Labour Party candidates, including four retiring aldermen, by a team endorsed by the local Labour League. Polling in five wards of the city will take place to-day.
