WELLINGTON, November 14.

The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows:

Light to moderate north-easterly winds gradually freshening; weather mainly fair to cloudy and warm, but a few isolated local showers probable; seas slight to moderate, but with a considerable easterly swell.

DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion is:—

Weather cloudy to overcast with scattered showers or misty rain in the northern and eastern districts of the North Island; elsewhere mainly fair at first but cloud increasing and later rain developing Jn the western and southern portions of the South Island. Though a cyclone is still centred just west of Cape Maria van Diemen it has been slowly losing intensity. Pressure is high to the east of the Dominion but a rather deep depression is situated over the western Tasman Sea and is extending on to southern New Zealand.

Wind —Easterly to south-easterly predominating north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura; elsewhere north-easterlies prevailing; force mainly light to moderate but strong in some exposed positions in the North Island and later freshening in the south.

Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rough but decreasing north of East Cape; elsewhere slight to moderate but considerable swell between East Cape and Banks Peninsula and later rising about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea—Southerly winds at first in the northern portion and north-easterly to northerly in the southern, but later northerlies becoming general and freshening; seas moderate but rising in the southern portion.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

Fine weather continued in Christehurch in the week-end. Cloud and wind on Saturday and early yesterday morning changed later to clear skies and sunshine, with a light breeze from the north-east. Temperatures were mild.

At 1 o'clock this morning: the sky was clouded and a strongeasterly breeze was blowing:. The temperature was 56 degrees, and the barometer was steady at 29.88 inches.

Auckland—The sky was cloudy, with a fresh east-north-easterly wind during the week-end. Saturday was showery, but Sunday was better. Temperatures were high, the maximum being 69 degrees. After a sharp fall the barometer became steady on Saturday morning, and the reading at 5 P-m. yesterday was 29.75 inches. Wellington—Saturday was overcast, but the sun broke through before midday and shone throughout the afternoon, with a fresh south-easterly wind. Yesterday was warm and sum-mer-like, with a gehtle easterly wind. Dunedin—The sky was overcast on Saturday morning and temperatures were low. In the afternoon the sun shone, but the temperature did not rise above 55 degrees. There was little ■wind, and the barometer, after falling in the morning, stood at 30.04 inches in the evening. Yesterday there was brilliant sunshine in the morning, and though light clouds appeared in the afternoon, the day remained warm and pleasant. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees.
