NEW MAYORAL CAR
ELABORATELY EQUIPPED VEHICLE Equipped with elaborate modern devices. including microphone and receiver, and a cut-glass scent bottle, a new Mayoral car has arrived for the Corporation of the City of Christchurch. The new car, costing £llOO, had its first outing yesterday, when the Mayor, Mr J. W. Beanland, drove to the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting at Riccarton. The old car, which has travelled 100,000 miles, has been retired. Painted a rich dark blue, with upholstery in fawn, the new car is or dignified appearance, with long, impressive lines. It is fitted with fluid flywheel transmission and pre-selective gears, making it ultra-modern_ in technical equipment. The speaking tube is electrically operated, with a microphone and receiver. . There are numerous devices for the comfort of the passengers. Though Mr Beanland has yet no, use for it, there is a scent bottle ebneealed in a neat fitting. There is a mirror and a place flor brush and comb, an electric cigarette, lighter, and a receptacle for cigar«<ttes.
