SMITHFIELD PRICES

LAMB SLIGHTLY FIRMER

The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board advises that the following represent prices realised on Thursday, November 4, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods offering that day, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfieid Market, and/or ex London stores. Note: In the case of chilled beef the prices represent approximate average prices realised for the week. (Previous prices are also shown.) Oct. Oct. Nov. 21. 28. 4. Per lb.

Prices for lamb are firmer owing to a shortage of spot stocks. Consumption is good for the time of year. Wethers are firm, with an improyed demand. Ewes are a shade easier, with trade slow. Frozen Beef—The market is slow and unchanged. Chilled beef showed little change on the week. New Zealand Porker Pigs—Prices are a shade easier, and trade is slow owing to the warm weather. Baconer pigs are nominal, as none are available.
