COMMITTEE MEETING

CONSOLIDATION PROPOSAL

The monthly meeting of the Leeston School Committee was presided over by Mr D. J. Ridden. The headmaster reported that the roll number was 132. and that the milk scheme was working satisfactorily. Judges appointed for the agricultural club activities were: —Calves: Messrs J. Legg and W. McLachlan; notebooks. Mr J. H. McMillan; sweet peas, Messrs D. H. Reid and G. W. Purser, and the Rev. D. N. Pryor.

The Education Board stated that it was approaching the Education Department for aarmission to purchase a section of land adjoining the school property. A letter from the department stated that no difficulty .was. anticipated in providing buses for the consolidation of Irwell and Doyleston schools with Leeslon as from the beginning of the 1938 school year.
