Scoring only 151 runs in their first innings the New Zealanders did not open their Australian tour auspiciously against South Australia on the Adelaide oval to-day. Only 3000 persons saw the New Zealanders play their first match here since 1920. The day was fine and the wicket was in perfect condition. Anxious about their form after the long sea voyage, the visitors, who won the toss, were slow at the start, only 11 runs being scored in the first half hour. It took them 156 minutes to reach the first 100. Most of the batsmen played the fast attack confidently. but the slow bowlers, Grun mett and Ward, were bogies.
