Two well-known Christchurch families were united yesterday when the wedding was celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Merivalo, of Hilda Trounce, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs T. W. Lewis. Park terrace, to Henry John, only son of Mr and Mrs H. J. Shand, SI. Albans street. Mr A. Worsley was organist for the ceremony, which was performed by Archdeacon A. K. Warren. I The church had been beautifully decorated with blue irises and arum lilies. Mr Lewis escorted his daughter, who was attended bj« Miss Gretchen Skeet (Gisborne), and the bridegroom's sister. Miss Jill Shand. The bride's french model frock of lace was mounted on matching satin, the cowled neckline being caught in square effect with pearl ornaments. Small buttons fastened the bodice at the back from the neck to the waist, and an inset panel in the skirt flared into a train. Tulle, tinted to match her frock, formed her long veil, which was arranged over the face, a twist of the tulle interlaced with pearls forming the head-dress in front, while orange blossom gave a finishing touch at the back. Her loose bouquet was composed of lilies of the valley, and deep cream freesias. Becoming frocks of Buckingham lilac triple ninon made on lines similar to the bride's frock were worn by the bridesmaids, contrast being provided by the pale lemon abutilons which were arranged with deep lavender sweet peas in their bouquets. Their coronets were composed of twists of i the lilac ninon. I After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the home of the bride's j parents in Park terrace, where the wedding reception was held. Mauve and yellow flowers decorated the reception rooms and the large marquee which had been erected on the lawn. Mrs Lewis received her guests wearing a black georgette redingote over a flower patterned frock in white, cerise and jade tonings on a black background. Her black straw hat was trimmed with cerise ribbon, and her flowers were ranunculi shading from pink to red. Mrs Shand wore a navy georgette frock interwoven with silk thread, a navy edge-to-edge coat with ermine trimming, and a navy light-weight felt hat trimmed with a. lace flower. Mrs Ernest England, the bride's sister, wore a suit of blue silk trimmed with white bows, a corsage spray of white flowers, and a white felt hat. Mrs R. G. T. Lewis (Wellington), sister-in-law of the bride, wore a black frock patterned in Paisley conventional design, a black wool redingote, and a black halo hat of fine straw. . , The bride travelled in an air-force blue tailored suit, a pale pink woollen jumper, dyed squirrel furs, and a Breton sailor hat of felt to tone with her suit.' , . Mr and Mrs H. J. Shand, jun., will make their home in Dunedin.

SATHERLEY—WARREN

The wedding was celebrated recently at the Papanui Methodist Church of Doreen Hilda, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs E. R. Warren (Papanui), to lan, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Satherley. Nelson. The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The Rev. F. B. Lawrence performed the ceremony, and Miss I. Benny was the organist. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a trained frock of magnolia satin trimmed at the back with satin buttons, and the full, sleeves were tapered to form points over the hands. Tiny pearl roses edged the cowled neckline. Her tulle veil was scalloped and embroidered, the coronet helding it to the head being composed of orange blossom and pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of cream roses, carnations, and lilies of the valley. Miss Elsie Warren, the bride's sister, and Miss Loreen Satherely, the bridegroom's sister, were bridesmaids, Miss Noeline Alexandra was flower girl, and the bride's small brother, Master Edgar Warren, attended as page. Mr Eric Morrison was best man, and the groomsman was Mr R. Warren.

The bridesmaids wore frocks of pale green and lemon sprigged ninon respectively. The frocks were made alike with shirred necklines and gored skirts, the sleeves being full to the wrists and gathered into narrow cuffs. Their bouquets were of lemon abutilons and tulips. The flower girl's frock was of pale pink spotted net over taffeta made in redingote style, the hemline being weighted with small frills. The collar was of taffeta edged with the net, and the sleeves were fully puffed. She carried a posy of pnk roses and sweet peas. The three attendants wore bandeaux of velvet flowers trimmed with gold leaves. The page boy wore long black velvet trousers and a frilled blouse of cream satin. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the Sunday school hall. Mrs -Warren wore a brown frock of heavy crepe de chene, patterned in fawn and gold, a brown fur coat, and a brown straw hat. Mrs Satherley's black frock was patterned in red and blue, and a spray of flowers trimmed her black straw hat. Both matrons carried bouquets of orange abutilons. For travelling, the bride wore a navy tailored suit, an apricot georgette blouse, and a hat of navy gramophone straw. She wore also a fur stole, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs Satherley will make their home at Spreydon.
