JUDGE SUGGESTS SOME FORM OF INSTRUCTION

''Judging from the cases I have heard here previously, there is a pretty low standard of morality among the Maoris in the district north of Gisborne," commented Mr Justice Ostler in addressing the Grand Jury at the opening of the Supreme Court this toorning. He was referring to the fact that three of the five cases for trial, and two for sentence, related, to sexual offences among natives. "Something should be done about it," n§ added, and suggested that some form of instruction might be beneficial.
