PREVENTING HARDSHIP ON STUDENTS

Lambourne) said to-day that because of the interruption of the studies of a large number of pupils and students throughout the Dominion, through the infantile paralysis epidemic, the Education Department is gathering information with the object of ensuring that as far as possible candidates for examinations will not suffer hardship as a result of the closing of schools. He said also that the executive committee of the Senate of the University of New Zealand had directed the Vice-Chancellor to make such arrangements with the examiners and the results committee as will prevent as far as possible injustice to candidates presenting themselves this year. The executivehad decided that entrance examinations this year would not begin until December 6
