TO THE EDITOB OF TUB FRBSB. Sir,—ln common with many WaiKiairi ratepayers I am grateful to you [or your very complete reports of the meetings of the County Council. I am greatly interested to know that our nspector receives £350 a year, also a

uniform and a car. Unfortunately, the same good treatment is not extended to the ratepayers. I have the misfortune to have a small holding in the county, capital value £875. The rates are £ls 9s this year, an increase of 14s on last year. Of course, little matters like this escape the notice of the councillors, whose policy seems to be high wages and damn the ratepayers. I hope the Government will pursue its intention of eliminating these useless councils.—Yours, etc., RATEPAYER. September 12, 1937. I
