'■:, -* WARD AND GODBY FAIL TO QUALIFY WEATHER HAZARDS IN SECOND ROUND (Received September 10, 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 10. Players in the Australian open golf championship, which was continued at Kensington to-day, had to contend with atrocious conditions, the wind at times reaching gale force. Cold, and driving sand from the surrounding sandhills, were hazards they had to overcome. The best round of the day, Ferrier's 74, was three over par. C. J. Ward (New Zealand) was again impressive from the tees,- but was weak in approaching and putting. He went out in 41, but struck the full force of the wind coming home. I. M. Godby showed improved form until he registered 7,7, 6 at successive holes coming in. Neither Ward nor Godby qualified among the 60 who will play the final 36 holes to-morrow. J. Ferrier to-day played a grand fighting round. Whenever he dropped a stroke to par he invariably made amends with a birdie at the following hole. Prominent players like W. Bolger and H. W.
