ITALIAN ARRESTED IN RUSSIA
ROME DEMANDS RELEASE ENGINEER CHARGED WITH ESPIONAGE (Received September 10, 7.5 p.m.) ROME, September 9. The Italian Government has instructed its Ambassador in Moscow (Signor Augusto *Rosso) to demand the release of Luigi Patroni. a naval engineer, who was arrested near Leningrad last week and charged with espionage. . Patroni was chief of a technical delegation lent to Russia by a big Italian shipbuilding company. His position is considered favourable, as 30 Russian engineers studying with the same shipbuilding firm at Leghorn could be held as hostages if reprisals are considered necessary.
