Lady Galway is among the passengers aboard the Awatea, which sailed for Wellington at 5.40 p.m. from Sydney. Her Excellency arrived by air from England yesterday.—United Press Association. At the monthly meeting of the Sunlight League, held yesterday, the chairman, Dr. D. E. Currie, spoke regretfully of the death of Dr. Ada Paterson, of Wellington, and a motion of sympathy with her relatives was carried. The honorary secretary, Miss J. Miss Kathleen Aslin (Napier), who has been visiting her mother in Dunedin, passed through Christchurch yesterday on her return to Hawke's Bay. Mr and Mrs Hazelwood, after a month's walking trip in the Nelson district, have returned to Anakiwa Homestead, Marlborough. Mrs Lewis Coster and her daughter, Miss Elizabeth Coster (Marlborough Sounds), are visiting friends in Canterbury. Mr and Mrs P. A. Irving (Christchurch) and Mr and Mrs E. Ensor (Rydal Downs, Rangiora), who were visitors to Marlborough for the ! Beauchamp—Coster wedding, are the guests of Mr and Mrs Hazelwood, Anakiwa. Misses Amy and May Oliver (South Canterbury) spent five weeks on a motor tour through England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, and they had a week in Oxford, which they found full of interest. Miss A. Oliver is at present staying with friends in Sussex and hopes to see something of the southern coast. Mrs Henry Hall (Seddon) is visiting the North Island. Mrs David M. Park (Dunedin) is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. G. Roberts, the Esplanade, Sumner. , Miss Lyra Taylor (Montreal) has been spending some time in England this summer, visiting her two sisters, Miss C. M. Taylor, in the West of England, and Dr. Portia Thomas and her family, in York. Wellington is the former home of these three sisters. At the monthly meeting of St. David's Ladies' Guild Mrs R. Hutton presided and welcomed guild members of Tennyson Street Congregational Church and Brougham Street Methodist Church. An enjoyable talk on "Herbs" was given by Miss Millicent Jennings, who also sang i solos. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Hutton, Lanyon, Cochrane, Gillanders, and Sherrard. News was received by a recent air mail that Mrs James Stevenson (formerly of Auckland) intends leaving England to-day for New Zealand, via India, on a few months' visit to her sisters. 'She will travel as far as Bombay with her daughter, Miss G. Delap Stevenson, who is returning to India to stay with her widower brother, who has a small child.
