TIN QUOTA STEADY

FIGURE REMAINS AT 110 PER CENT. RISING PRICES CHECKED (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.) PARIS, September 9. The International Tin Committee has decided to leave the tin quota unchanged at 110 per cent, of standard tonnages. This was the figure fixed in March for the second quarter of 1937, and has remained unaltered since then. When the committee's decision was made then it was an alteration from 100 per cent, of standard tonnages, and the rise to 110 per cent, brought hectic scenes on • the London metal market, tin falling rapidly in price, and later rallying. The price of spot tin .on March 11 was £3Ol 10s a ton. Yesterday it was £261 12s 6d a ton—a drop of £4O in six months. This check in the rising price before March was the aim of the committee in increasing the quota.
