CHILBLAIN REMEDY

TO THE EDITOB Of THE PBE33 Sir, —As a great number of people are suffering from chilblains at this time, the following recipe will be interesting. Having heard that chilblains are caused by the blood becoming thin in the winter time, and that lime when taken into the system will cause the blood to thicken, I procured two ounces of unslaked lime from a building contractor and put this into one gallon of water. I found that a half cup full of this limewater added to the rame amount of milk and taken three times a day before meals cured my chilblains in three days. It seems that on the Canterbury plain there is a natural deficiency of time in the soil. I believe it would be in the interest of health generally if it were made compulsory for fanners, especially dairy farmers, to keep the lime content of their soils up to a standard approved by experts.— Yours, etc.. v TIP TOE. July 2, 1937.
