SPRINGBOKS HAVE EASY WIN
SOUTH AUSTRALIA BEATEN BY 55 POINTS TO 3 SPEED OF VISITING FORWARDS COMMENDED (tTKITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COFr&IGHT.) (Received June 6, 10.30 p.m.) ADELAIDE. June 6. The Springboks had another practice match on Saturday when they overwhelmed South Australia by 55 points to 3. The manager of the team said th» performance of the visitors was entirely satisfactory in view of th« limited opportunity to train. Many passes were fumbled and for a period the backs showed a definite uncertainty, but they expect an improvement when training begins in earnest. The remainder of the 29 players were given a try-out on Saturday, the others having played in the first match against Western Australia. The speed and agility of the burly forwards were remarkable. A particular star was Brand, who converted eight tries and kicked a penalty goal. Harris, Bestel. and Williams were a strong combination in the rearguard. Badrow was another outstanding player. Brand was amazing with his left-foot punts and drop-kicks. The forward play and cross-kick-ing of the Springbok pack were als© a revelation to the South Australian side. Tries were scored for the Springboks by Bestel (3), Williams, Lawton, Du Toit, Badrow (2 each), Bastard, De Villiers (1 each). Wills kicked a penalty goal for South Australia.
