Senior Grade Notes With few exceptions the shooting in the senior grade matches was of a much lower standard than the previous week. Four teams only reached totals of more than 550, and 16 individual possibles were scored compared with 25 registered the previous week. ~ , . , . . . . Cashmere A again had the highest total for the week and defeated Sydenham by four points. . . . ... Returned Soldiers shot most consistently and had no difficulty in defeating casnmere B by a margin of 8 points Marist, the only team to win all matches to date, scored a good win over Christchurch, G. Falgar. the present leader for the Pimm Cup aggregate, scored another fine possible. United shot considerably lower than the form shown in former matches and was somewhat lucky to defeat New Brighton by the narrow margin of one P.°i n t. shot much below senior grade standard and was defeated by Cnristchurch Working Men's Club by 12 points The following shows the positions ot the teams for the Beaven Cup:—Marist 5, United 41. Adams, each with a score of 69. had the leading totals for the Gas Company s team. H. A. Purves 69 and J. Southward 69, were the leading scorers for the Hills Christchurch beat Railway by six points on the Railway range. H. Lee (Christchurch) 70, J. Clifford (Christchurch) 69, and J. McVinnie (Railway) 68. had the best scores for the match. Ward's Ladies, with the fine total of 545, had the highest total in the grade, and beat Sumner by a margain of 7 points. Miss Best 70 and Mrs R. Smith 69 had the best scores for the match. Returned Soldiers won from City by the narrow margin of one point. A. Shgo 69 and J. Wilson 69 had the leading scores for the soldiers' team. R. Loasby 69 and A. Weeks 69 shot well for City. New Brighton Ladies had the highest total in the B section, and gained an easy win over City. Mrs Caldwell 69 being top-scorer for the match. Atlas inflicted the first defeat of the season upon Celtic Ladies, who shot much below the form shown in previous matches. E. Grafton (Atlas) with 69 was top-scorer for the match. United scored a good win over Hutchinson's Motors. R. Blakeway 70 and A Smith 69 had the best scores for the match. Marist beat New Brighton by a margin of 20 points. M. Rountree (New Brighton) with 69 had the leading score for the match. . Jottings The Celtic Ladies held their weekly hotty button shoot last week. The button for first-year shots resulted in a tie between Miss M. Trevan and Mrs Nicholls, who scored 65 each. The match button was won by Miss E. Daff with a score of 67. The shoot-off for the R. Haj trophy resulted: Mrs Fraser 69, Miss M S A lth Christchurch ladies' representative team took part in the annual Wellington on Saturday evening. Smith (Ward's) 67-total 679 The next shoot of the New Zealand series is the Winchester Cup competition, which will be fired on home ranges throughout New Zealand betwen June 7 and June 19. As in former years, the entry is open to teams of five men. with a possible of 200 and a maximum team total of 1000 points. Last year the event was won by West End, Timaru, with a total of 983 points. The metric targets will again be used this season.
