THE MARCUS SHOW

♦ "BROADWAY VANITIES" Novel ill its conception, and daring in its production, the Marcus Show, which is presented in Christchurch for a season at the Theatre Royal, will stage to-night for the last time "La Vie Paree." The change of show will be "Broadway Vanities," equally as typical of the spectacular and dazzling American revue. Christchurch, like other towns and cities in the Dominion, has been decisively conquered by "La Vie Paree," and the new show, which will start to-morrow, will without doubt be every bit as successful. A feature of the new programme will be the first appearance in New Zealand of Miss Dorothy Oliver, the dramatic soprano. Seventy-six artists share honours in the success of the new scenes and acts—artists drawn from the radio, stage, and screen, from the United States. The costumes are daring in their scantiness; but they are striking in their effect. The comedy, of the high-pressure American type, is excellent in its drollery and subtlety. Not the variety of revue which Christchurch sees once or twice in a year, it presents a spectacle in every scene and ther_e are many pleasing stage settings.
