WEATHER REPORT

OFFICIAL FORECASTS (THE PRESS Special Service.) WELLINGTON. June 4. The weather forecast for Cantcr‘bury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of Issue, is as follows; Winds becoming southerly, moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in exposed positions; weather cold and showery, with snow on the high levels and hail In places; seas becoming rough. The official Dominion forecast Is:— Still squally and changeable, with heavy rain at times in most districts and in places thunder and hail; temperatures becoming very cold, with snow on the high levels, hut improving to-morrow on the Weet Coast of the South Island. A deep and complex westerly depression is crossing the Dominion, while an intense anti-cyclone covers Australia and is extending on to the western Tasman Sea. Winds —North-westerly to westerly at first in most places, but a change to southerlies extending from the south over the Dominion by to-morrow morning; force moderate to strong generally and of gale force at exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough to high on the west coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate, but later rising. Eastern Tasman Sea—South-westerly to southerly winds, strong to gale force, with rough to high seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was line, there being sunshine during the latter part of the morning and in the afternoon. There wag a fresh wind from the north-west. Heavy rain fell in the evening. The maximum temperature during the day was 61.7 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clouded and a strong southwesterly breeze was blowing.
