REBROADCASTING OF RACES
TO r«E EDITOB OF TO* fKESH. Si,’,—As an enthusiastic listener, May I, through the medium of “The Press,” make a suggestion to the broadcasting authorities that I feel sure would greatly popularise the service. When the Auckland Racing Club's winter meeting was held last year, running commentaries upon the Great Northern Hurdles and Steeples were rebroadcast by Station 3YA. This was greatly appreciated by myself and, I am sure, hundreds of others like myself, who, although owners of powerful radio sets, arc unable to get satisfactory reception from Auckland during the hours of daylight. My suggestion is that the Christchurch station rebroadcast through 3YL the whole of the programme from IYA Auckland on Saturday and Wednesday from the time
of the first race until the last race. There iq a possibility that there will be no local meetfng on Saturday while Wednesday a public holiday with no local me-tmg, so that such a service would be a great boon to South Island sponsmsin espotnUiy iLa’STbl'wT Snf£.-.«E. arraitgement can bo June 4, 1937.
