LAURIAN CLUB RECITAL

♦ On Thursday, June 17. in the Radiant Hall, the Laurian Club .will present the first recital of its 1937 season. The Laurian Club string orchestra, conducted by Mr V. C. Peters, will play Grieg's "Holberg" Suite, and a modern "Suite for Strings" by Dr. Bainton, the director of the Sydney Conservatorium, and will supply string accompaniment to the Bach "Brandenburg Concerto No. 5." Two interesting examples of chamber music are the Cesar Franck pianoforte quintet and the Rootham trio for pianoforte, violin, and 'cello, to be presented by performing members of the club. The assisting artists will be Mrs W. B. Harris, soprano, and Mr A. Hutton, flautist. Concessions are announced for students and school children.
