AMERICAN FILMS IN BRITAIN
(BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, June 1. Payments made to the United States in royalties on American fi* . exhibited in the United Kingdom probably amounted in 1936 to about £6,000,000, according to an answer in the House of Commons bi the President of the Board of Trade (Mr Oliver Stanley), who added that one effect of the Films Act, 1927, had been to reduce the proportion of cinema receipts accruing to renters of United States films.
