T was married in August, 1910, in response to the dying wish of my first husband,” said Jean Mitchell Rea. in applying in the Supreme Court for the dissolution of her marriage with Thomas William Rea. ‘ Petitioner said that there was one son of the first marriage, who was now aged 30. but no children of the second marriage. The parties lived at Kan Kati and Waihi. Mrs Rea said that married life with her second husband had been very unhaooy. He was a heavy drinker and refused to work on the farm, and had several times locked her out of the house. On another occasion he threatened to kill her. Mr Justice Smith: What did he say? Petitioner: He told me I would not see the light of another day. He caught me by the throat. On another occasion he threatened to kill me. Petitioner said she left for Australia and had since sunported her son. She had not seen her husband for 10 years. ‘This is a case in which the husband forced the wife f r om the home.” said his Honour. “Desertion was therefore on the part of the husband. A decree nisi will be granted.”
