THE DAVIS CUP CONTEST
JAPAN LOSES TWO FINAL MATCHES (Received May 3, 11.30 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, May 2. Results in the Davis Cup match between the United States and Japan to-day were:— Singles Parker (United States) beat Nakano (Japan), 6-0, 6-3, P-2. Budge (United States) beat Yamagishi (Japan), 6-2, 6-2, 6-41 MCGRATH ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL (Received May 3, 11.30 p.m.) MEXICO CITY. May 3. V. B. McGrath has been taken to the Cowdray Sanatorium because of throat infection. The captain of the Australian Davis Cup team, Mr C. E. Sproule, who is remaining in Mexico City, said he hoped McGrath would recover in a few days. J. Crawford, A. K. Quist, and J. Bromwich left for San Antonio (Texas), where they will play exhibition games and await word of McGrath: Mr Sproule said: "McGrath has fever and is feeling depressed. His condition is not alarming."
