PLUNKET SOCIETY

HORNBY BRANCH The annual meeting, of the-Hornby sub-branch of the Pliinket Society was held in the Orange' Hall, Hornby, with Mrs J. Gundersen presiding. The presi-; dent « welcomed Mrs H. R. Smith, a foundation member of the Christchurch branch, who congratulated the sub-branch oh its satisfactory financial position; and the progress made during the year. Mrs Smith also gave an interesting talk on the early history of the Plunket movement. The president reported that the number of financial members showed a large increase over the previous year. The services of Nurse Horne had been much appreciated by mothers and the committee. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr R. Mitchell (honorary auditor), and to: all’ who had assisted the sub-branch. : The nurse’s report stated that 188 homes had been visited, and attend-? ance at rooms had included 459 adults; |}s3 babies, and 73 pre-school children. Mesdames Frogley, Helmore, and Leslie spoke in appreciation of the work done by the president (Mrs Gundersen), who had resigned from that office, and Mesdames H. Spicer and H. Herman, secretary and treasurer respectively. , Officers elected were:—President, Mrs J. Frogley; vice-presidents, Mesdames F. Helmore and W. Leslie; committee, Mesdames H. Spiper, G. Grey, L. Brownie, D. Bamford, G. Skerton, P. McNab, Knotts, and T. Hunter. The election of secretary and treasurer , was held over until the next meeting, Mrs T. Hunter consenting to act as secretary In the meantime.
