NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL HALL
OPENING AT WAINONI The new Methodist Sunday School hall in Kerr’s • road, Wainoni, was officially opened on Saturday afternoon by Mr W. Charles Francis, superintendent of the Sunday School, k : The Rev. H. L. Fiebig, superintendent minister, praised the work of the 40 helpers who by working for seven Saturdays had constructed the building. Mr Fiebig went on to say that although the Methodist Church possessed some fine buildings, its., main strength lay in its people. Mr S. Harrington, under whom the voluntary helpers had worked, presented the key lo Mr Francis, who asked the children to lead the way into the hall, and spoke of the satisfaction he felt,'at the thought that the people of Wainoni now had a place of worship. Inside the hall a lesson was read by Mr G. Armitage, and the Rev. F. Gardner Brown led a prayer. An address was delivered by the Rev. H, E. Bellhouse, Sumner. The Rev. J. Featherston will be in charge of the hall, which will be used for both church and Sunday school services. : The hall, which stands on land given under the will of Mr E. Armstrong, is of modern design, and is built of rimu. A porch, a main hall, a classroom and a kitchen, all of which are lined with fibrous plaster, make up the interior. The cost of the building was £395.
