AEROPLANE CRASH AT BIG BAY
INQUEST INTO JOURNALIST’S DEATH (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) INVERCARGILL, May 1. An inquest was held to-day before Mr J. Ward. J.P., and a jury of four into the death of Walter Sutton Jones, a journalist, aged 21, who was killed when an aeroplane crashed at Big Bay, South Westland, on December 30. Evidence was given by the pilot, A. J. Bradshaw, and passengers in the machine. Bradshaw said that when preparing to land the machine stalled. He attempted to gain control, hut the low alt tude made this impossible. The jury found that Walter Sutton Jones met his death when an aeroplane piloted by Bradshaw crashed. Mr R. C. Kean, Chief Inspector of Aircraft, indicated that a departmental inquiry would be held later.
